Job summary

The First Principle is looking for a Junior Digital Designer to join our creative team. Working closely with and reporting to our Head of Creative, you’ll support the development and delivery of creative work across a diverse portfolio of B2B clients, including some of Australia’s largest financial institutions and leading brands.

This is a hands-on design role spanning digital, social, campaigns, reports, presentations, websites, email, brand and print.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media or a related field.
  • 1-3 years' experience in a design role, ideally within an agency, studio or fast-paced creative environment.
  • Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, with experience using Microsoft PowerPoint and Canva to create high-quality presentations and marketing assets.
  • Strong working knowledge of Figma, with experience using it day-to-day to design for web and digital environments.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy and brand systems.
  • Comfortable working within established brand guidelines and rolling creative concepts out across multiple assets.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, polished work.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Collaborative, proactive and comfortable taking direction and feedback.
  • An interest in AI and emerging creative technologies, with curiosity about how they can improve the way designers work.
  • Animation, After Effects, motion design or video editing experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head of Creative to support the development and delivery of client creative.
  • Design and produce assets across digital, social, integrated campaigns, reports, presentations, brochures and other marketing collateral.
  • Roll out creative concepts across multiple formats and channels, maintaining a high level of consistency and attention to detail.
  • Support the development and evolution of client brands and visual identity systems.
  • Design digital assets including website pages, landing pages, email communications and paid and organic social content.
  • Support the design of B2B reports and content, including infographics and data visualisation.
  • Prepare artwork and files for digital and print production.
  • Review and quality-check your own work to ensure accuracy, consistency and alignment with client brand guidelines before delivery.
  • Work across multiple client accounts and projects, adapting to different brand guidelines, creative styles and deadlines.
  • Support the broader team across pitches, proposals and new business presentations.
  • Contribute ideas and creative thinking to campaigns and client projects.
  • Explore how emerging AI tools can support and enhance the creative process.

About the role

The First Principle is looking for a Junior Digital Designer to join our creative team. Working closely with and reporting to our Head of Creative, you’ll support the development and delivery of creative work across a diverse portfolio of B2B clients, including some of Australia’s largest financial institutions and leading brands.

This is a hands-on design role spanning digital, social, campaigns, reports, presentations, websites, email, brand and print. You’ll work from established brand guidelines and creative concepts, while also having opportunities to contribute ideas and develop your conceptual skills.

We’re looking for someone with strong design fundamentals, excellent attention to detail and the ambition to keep learning. You’ll receive hands-on mentoring from our Head of Creative, with the opportunity to take on greater creative responsibility as your skills and experience grow.
