Job summary

The Deputy Associate role at the Federal Court Australia in New South Wales supports a Judge by handling day-to-day chamber management, preparing court materials, and conducting legal research to assist judgment preparation.

You will work closely with the judiciary and court staff, manage priorities, and travel on circuits as required. A law qualification with strong academic record is essential.

Qualifications

• Completion (or near completion) of a law qualification with strong academic record.
• Ability to undertake legal research and prepare reports.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure in a team.
• Well-developed communication and keyboard skills with judiciary and public.
• Willingness to travel on circuits.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conduct of Court proceedings, including transcription of orders and courtroom management.
• Assist the Associate in day-to-day management of chambers and inbox management.
• Undertake legal research and prepare materials for the judge.
• Enter data into Court case management systems reflecting outcomes.
• Prepare matters for Court and Judge, including case summaries and file maintenance.
• Assist with preparation and delivery of judgments and editing to publication standards.
• Support general operation of chambers.
• Other duties, as required.
