IT Business Analyst
The role

As part of Saab's IT group the Senior IT Business Analyst will work across the business to elicit, analyse, communicate and validate requirements to deliver enhanced IT solutions and outcomes to the business.

The role will be key in managing stakeholders, communicating with vendors and suppliers and will require excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills to drive change and improvement initiatives.

  • Lead and facilitate discovery workshops and interviews to elicit and validate business and technology requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications for IT teams.
  • Act as a liaison between business units, IT teams and external vendors.
  • Facilitate communication to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Manage expectations and resolve conflicts or misunderstandings.
  • Evaluate proposed solutions to ensure they meet business needs.
  • Support testing efforts (e.g. UAT) by developing test cases and validating outcomes.
  • Recommend improvements or alternative approaches when necessary.
  • Analyse current business processes and identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives by aligning technology with business strategy.
  • Document and model processes using tools like Visio.
  • Collaborate with project managers to define scope, timelines and deliverables.
  • Track progress and report on risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation (BRDs, FRDs, user stories etc.).
  • Prepare reports and dashboards for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and governance frameworks.
  • Support change initiatives by assessing impacts and preparing communication plans.
  • Train users and develop support materials for new systems or processes.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office 9 day fortnight and part will be considered for this role after the discussion with manager.

About you
Your skills and experience will include :
  • Proficiency in gathering, documenting and managing business and technical requirements.
  • Experience with tools like JIRA, Confluence or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with methodologies such as BABOK, Agile and Waterfall.
  • Ability to map and optimise business processes using Visio, BPMN, UML or similar frameworks.
  • Experience in identifying inefficiencies and recommending technology‑driven solutions.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and ITIL principles.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills to work with cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience in managing stakeholder expectations and resolving conflicts.
  • Ability to analyse data sets and generate insights using Excel, SQL or BI tools.
  • Experience working in project environments supporting PMs with scope, timelines and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with Agile ceremonies (e.g. stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives).
  • Familiarity and awareness of information security and how it is applied in operational environments.
  • 2 years in business analysis roles ideally within IT or digital transformation projects.
  • Exposure to change management and training initiatives.

As a defence security clearance is required for this role applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline / NV1 / NV2 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes including ITAR.
