Job summary

Frontier Economics is offering paid internships in our Sydney office during the Australian university winter and summer vacation periods. Interns work with experienced consultants on real client projects, gaining practical experience in applied economic analysis.

We seek students studying economics, econometrics or finance who are Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent residents, in at least their second year, with strong academic results and solid data handling.

Qualifications

• Australian or New Zealand citizen, or permanent resident in Australia.
• Currently studying a degree in economics, econometrics or finance.
• Be at least in your second year of study.
• Have living arrangements in Sydney for the course of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Work in small teams on projects across sectors to deliver transparent results.
• Work with data to solve complex problems using datasets of various sizes.
• Research or investigate economic issues faced by clients.
• Write reports and present findings aligned with project deliverables.

Frontier Economics offers paid internship positions in our Sydney office during the Australian university winter and summer vacation periods.

We look for individuals with a strong understanding of economic principles, well-developed analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing. Interns work alongside experienced consultants on real client projects and gain practical experience in applied economic analysis.

Working as an Intern at Frontier Economics could involve:

• working within small teams on projects in one of the sectors we are involved in to deliver transparent and well thought out results
• working and solving complex problems using data – whether small, medium or big data!
• researching or investigating issues or economic challenges facing our clients
• writing reports and/or presentations on findings in line with project deliverables

Please ensure you meet the following compulsory requirements for the internship program before applying:

• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or permanent resident in Australia, at the time of applying for the program
• currently studying a degree in economics, econometrics or finance, be at least in your second year, and with strong academic results
• have your own living arrangements for the course of the internship in Sydney

The ideal candidate will have:

• good data handling, management and analytical skills
• an eye for detail and a devotion to quality control and self-improvement
• competency in Microsoft Excel and/or a language such as R or Python
• excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Key dates:

• Internship Placement Period: December-January with flexibility on starting dates
• Length of Internships:3-4 weeks on negotiation with the successful applicants

Location: Sydney (interstate applicants will need to make their own living arrangements for the course of the internship)
