Job description

Internal Communications & Engagement Advisor

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s conventionally armed, nuclear‑powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the role

Join us in a role that helps people understand where ASC is heading, why it matters and how they contribute to its success.

As an Internal Communications & Engagement Advisor you’ll play a key role in strengthening alignment, engagement and culture across ASC. Working at the intersection of communication, leadership and employee experience, you’ll partner with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver communication strategies and engagement initiatives that connect people to our purpose, priorities and future.

You’ll help leaders communicate with clarity, support organisational change, drive workforce engagement and ensure employees have the information, context and connection they need to do their best work.

From strategic business updates and leadership communications to employee engagement programmes, recognition initiatives and major organisational campaigns, you will influence how ASC communicates and how employees experience our organisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Helping shape how ASC communicates, engages and connects with its workforce.
  • Advising leaders and stakeholders on communication approaches that support business objectives and employee engagement.
  • Developing and delivering communication and engagement strategies, campaigns and initiatives across a diverse and growing workforce.
  • Supporting organisational change, transformation and business initiatives through effective employee communication and engagement.
  • Creating meaningful opportunities for employees to connect with ASC’s purpose, strategy and culture.
  • Managing key communication channels and ensuring employees have access to relevant, timely and engaging information.
  • Measuring communication effectiveness and using insights to strengthen impact and improve outcomes.
  • Building trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation to understand workforce needs and influence communication decisions.
  • Delivering a broad range of communication products, events and engagement experiences that inform, involve and inspire employees.

About You

You’re naturally curious, highly organised and love turning information into clear, engaging messages that people actually want to read.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in internal communications, employee engagement, communications or a related field.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor content to different audiences.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.

  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

You’ll stand out if you bring experience in:

  • Photography, videography or video editing.
  • Graphic design or visual storytelling.
  • SharePoint, intranet or digital content management platforms.
  • Defence, government or complex corporate environments.
