Job summary

Career Development and Management Guru seeks an Intermediate Accountant in Mackay to join a respected business services firm. You will prepare financial statements, assist with BAS/IAS, and support SMSF reporting while liaising with clients and improving processes.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in public practice, solid knowledge of accounting principles, and experience with Xero or MYOB. The role offers structured training, CA/CPA study support, and clear career progression within the firm.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Accounting or related field (or working towards).
• 1–3 years’ experience in public practice accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax compliance.
• Experience with Xero, MYOB or similar accounting systems.
• Good communication and client service ability.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns and supporting workpapers.
• Assist with BAS, IAS and general tax compliance obligations.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end accounting tasks.
• Work with SMSF administration and related reporting as required.
• Liaise with clients and support day‑to‑day accounting queries.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and workflow efficiency.
• Work collaboratively with senior accountants and managers across engagements.
