Job summary

Sophia College in Plainland is seeking a passionate Secondary English Teacher for a 12-month fixed-term contract commencing January 2027. The role covers Years 7–12 and may include Religious Education.

You will contribute to a student-centred, inclusive classroom culture and collaborate with teachers, families and leaders to deliver contemporary, language-rich learning experiences. Applicants should have current QCT registration, a commitment to Catholic education and the ability to design

Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering curriculum aligned to the Australian Curriculum.
• Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
• Ability to teach Years 7–12 and, if possible, Religious Education.

Responsibilities

• Create a nurturing, learner-centred classroom aligned with the Australian Curriculum and school policies.
• Collaboratively develop and implement quality curriculum programs; assess and report student progress.
• Work with leadership, colleagues and families to foster a positive school culture.
• Engage in professional learning to enhance student outcomes.
• Support students' spiritual and moral development as appropriate to Catholic education.
• Ensure the teachings and values of the Catholic Church underpin learning.
