Job summary

ARTC in Geelong, Victoria, is seeking an Infrastructure Maintainer to carry out track maintenance, preventative and reactive work, and minor capital upgrades. The role is based in Geelong and involves operating heavy machinery and performing welding tasks in a safety‑conscious railway environment.

You will work as part of ARTC's Operations team, contributing to a nationwide rail network and supporting reliable services.

Qualifications

• Rail Industry experience in track maintenance.
• Current Rail Industry Competencies.
• Construction-induction (white card).
• Relevant machinery operation tickets (desirable).
• Welding experience in a rail or heavy industry environment (desirable).
• Current driver’s licence and ability to drive a manual car.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ARTC’s rail track including preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Undertake minor construction for planned capital upgrades.
• Perform safety protection work and visual inspections of the track.
• Operate heavy machinery as required.
• Welding and other maintenance tasks in rail/heavy industry settings.

About The Opportunity

Infrastructure Maintainers carry out the physical work of maintaining ARTC’s rail track, including preventative and reactive maintenance activities, as well as undertaking minor construction for planned capital upgrades. Infrastructure Maintainers undertake general labouring, track maintenance duties, safety protection work, visual inspections of ARTC’s rail track, operating heavy machinery, welding and other maintenance tasks while meeting ARTC standards. Role is based in Geelong, Victoria.

About The Team

Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets. The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.
