Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety in Melbourne is seeking an Information Officer to provide clear guidance on guardianship and decision-making. You will assist people with disability and their supporters, helping them understand options and access appropriate support.

• Fixed-Term (12 months), full-time role earning $81,496 - $98,955 per year, plus super.

What you will do

As information officer, you will give clear advice about guardianship and decision-making.

You will help people understand their options and access the right support.

You will:

• give clear information about guardianship, administration and enduring powers of attorney
• respond to calls and written questions, and refer complex matters when needed
• assess high-risk matters and make notifications under agreed procedures
• provide short-term advocacy that supports people's rights, choices and dignity
• research service issues, update resources and help improve information services.

About you

No qualification is required for this role. A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable but not essential.

You should also have:

• strong knowledge of Victoria's disability, mental health and aged care services
• clear communication skills, both when speaking and writing
• good judgement to solve problems and explain complex information simply
• inclusive and calm communication skills when supporting people in difficult situations.
