Job description

About us

At Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI), we change lives through the power of education and skills. As a Victorian public TAFE and public sector entity, BKI brings together Bendigo TAFE, Kangan Institute, VETASSESS and eWorks to deliver future-ready skills, training, assessment and lifelong learning opportunities.

As a public sector education entity, BKI operates in a complex, regulated and purpose-led environment, supporting learners, industry and communities across Victoria. This role will help shape the structures, ways of working and workforce foundations needed to deliver our ambitions in a complex, multi-campus public vocational education environment.

The Opportunity

Help students turn their learning into practical experience by connecting them with quality industry placements. As an Industry Placement Coordinator at Bendigo Kangan Institute, you’ll build the partnerships and coordinate the opportunities that support students to take their next step into industry.

You’ll source placement opportunities, develop relationships with new and existing hosts, and manage placements from student matching through to compliance and logistics. Working within our centralised placement team, you’ll balance upcoming placement needs with day-to-day priorities, keeping students and industry partners informed along the way.

This part-time role offers the chance to combine relationship building with hands-on coordination and meaningful student outcomes. Based in Bendigo, the role includes occasional travel to other campuses and host organisations.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and maintain industry partnerships, identify new hosts and secure quality placement opportunities across multiple courses.
  • Coordinate end-to-end placements, including student matching, scheduling, logistics and communication with hosts.
  • Ensure placement agreements, documentation and processes meet regulatory, industry and educational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate placement records using systems such as InPlace and Placeright, and use technology to improve efficiency.
  • Guide students and industry partners through placement requirements, resolve concerns and resolve complex issues appropriately.
  • Use feedback and placement data to improve processes and contribute to the success of the centralised placement team.

You’re a proactive relationship builder who enjoys bringing people and processes together. You can plan ahead, respond calmly when priorities change and keep the details on track in a busy placement environment.

  • Relevant qualifications in business or marketing, or substantial experience in an educational or VET setting.
  • Demonstrated success building industry partnerships and developing placement opportunities.

  • Sound judgement to resolve placement issues professionally and ensure placements meet relevant requirements.
  • Strong planning, communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to balance future placement needs and current priorities.
