Job summary

Flinders University’s College of Science and Engineering seeks an Industry Partnerships Manager to forge strategic links with industry, government and community partners. The role targets growth areas including defence, sustainable energy, AI and cybersecurity, and aims to position the College as a partner of choice for collaboration, education and innovation.

You will lead partnerships, connect industry with Flinders expertise for projects and funding, and expand industry-connected learning

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Industry Partnerships Manager to build strategic connections between the College of Science and Engineering at Flinders University and industry, government and community partners.

This is a highly connected and influential role, where you will identify opportunities, bring the right people together and turn ideas into meaningful collaborations across engineering and computer science. With a particular focus on growth areas including defence, sustainable energy, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, you will help position the College as a partner of choice for industry engagement, innovation and talent.

In this role, you will:
  • Build and grow strategic partnerships with industry, government, research and community stakeholders, aligned to the College's teaching, research and innovation capabilities.
  • Connect industry with Flinders expertise to develop collaborative projects, research opportunities, commercial activities and new funding opportunities.
  • Expand industry-connected learning through placements, FUSECo projects, Industry Honours and Masters projects, Enterprise PhDs and other industry opportunities.
  • Lead and grow industry engagement capability by managing and developing a team, strengthening systems and processes, and providing strategic advice to College leadership and academic teams.

This position is open to candidates with Australian Work Rights. Relocation support is available.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive industry partnership and business development experience, with a demonstrated ability to translate opportunities into strategic partnerships, projects and funding outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and/or computing, with the ability to engage credibly with technical and academic stakeholders and understand emerging industry and workforce needs.
  • Highly developed leadership and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to lead teams, influence senior stakeholders and facilitate collaboration across diverse organisations.
