Job summary

Shadetex Australia in St Marys, NSW, is seeking an Industrial Sewing Machinist to join the fabrics team. You’ll operate an industrial sewing machine to produce premium outdoor blind and awning products to specification, working with mesh, acrylic, PVC and canvas.

This role goes beyond sewing: you’ll assist with fabric cutting, heat welding, and splining, read job sheets, and follow drawings to ensure clean, accurate finishes.

Qualifications

• Experience operating an industrial sewing machine.
• Able to read and follow technical job sheets and drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail in fabric finishing.
• Capable of working independently and managing output.
• Strong team player with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Operate an industrial sewing machine across fabrics such as mesh, acrylic, PVC and canvas.
• Hem and finish blind and awning fabrics to specification.
• Assist with fabric cutting, heat welding and splining.
• Read and follow job sheets and standard operating procedures.
• Work from drawings or samples to understand product construction.
• Maintain quality standards and flag issues when observed.
• Contribute to a clean, safe and organised workshop floor.
