Hitec Welding Pty Ltd in Pinkenba, Brisbane, is seeking a full-time Painting Trades Worker to coat pressure vessels, piping, skids and structural steel. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in a hands-on role covering surface prep and protective coatings in accordance with AS/NZS 2312.1.

You will collaborate with workshop, quality and project teams to ensure durable, compliant finishes to client specs and to WHS standards. Prior experience and qualifications in coatings are required.

Qualificações

• Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application (MSM30216) or Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (CPC30620) or equivalent.
• Experience applying industrial protective coatings to structural steel, vessels or piping.
• Competent in abrasive blasting and airless spray equipment operation.
• Ability to read coating specifications and record film thickness accurately.
• Knowledge of coating systems, curing times and overcoat windows; awareness of defects.

Responsabilidades

• Set up blast and paint bay with scaffolding, ladders and screens.
• Prepare surfaces by removing rust, mill scale and old coatings using abrasive blast.
• Check surface parameters and ensure conditions meet specifications.
• Mix, thin and tint paints per datasheets and match colours.
• Apply primers, intermediate coats and topcoats by airless spray, brush or roller.
• Measure film thickness and rectify coating defects.
• Maintain blast pots, pumps and breathing air equipment; manage waste.
• Complete coating records; present for inspection and touch up as needed.
• Apply Hitec quality and WHS systems including confined space entry.
