Job summary

Sims Metal is seeking a hands‑on Electrician to join our maintenance team at our NSW metal recycling site. The role covers an afternoon shift from 2pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime and long‑term security.

You will perform fault finding, routine maintenance and repairs on motors, conveyors and control systems. The ideal candidate holds an electrical trade qualification and NSW licence, plus experience in heavy industrial environments and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade qualification and NSW licence are essential.
• Experience with fault finding on plant and equipment is required.
• Proven ability to work safely in heavy industrial settings.
• Strong teamwork mentality and safety focus is expected.

Responsibilities

• Respond to plant and equipment breakdowns with fault finding and troubleshooting.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
• Maintain and repair motors, control systems, conveyors and industrial electrical equipment.
• Assist with equipment upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain inventory control of electrical spare parts.
• Complete safety documentation including risk assessments and work permits.
• Ensure all work complies with site procedures.
