Job summary

Zoos Victoria is offering a Baillieu Myer Conservation Internship housed within the Conservation and Science team. The role is a 12-month, full-time fixed-term position based at Melbourne Zoo with some work-from-home flexibility and field work as needed.

Applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and be Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or hold a valid Australian working visa.

Qualifications

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency or valid Australian working visa to be considered.
• Must meet fitness requirements of the role (able to work in physically challenging conditions and for extended periods in the field).

Responsibilities

• Gain field-based research skills while working alongside Zoos Victoria scientists and assisting with Fighting Extinction programs.
• Participate in conservation planning and ex-situ zoo-based programs and recovery teams.
• Undertake research focusing on knowledge gaps or key research questions related to Zoos Victoria's Fighting Extinction species or other Victorian threatened species.
