Hinchinbrook Shire Council is seeking an experienced Mechanical Pump Fitter to maintain and repair pumps, generators and associated equipment within its water and wastewater facilities. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and on-site collaboration to ensure continuous community service.

Ideal candidates will hold a Fitter & Turner qualification and have hands-on experience with confined spaces and high-risk environments, supporting an on-site team and an apprentice

Qualifications

• Qualified Fitter & Turner or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining pumps, pipelines, valves and rotating equipment.
• Experience in water and wastewater or similar industrial environments.
• Commitment to Workplace Health and Safety in high-risk environments.

Responsabilités

• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair pumps, generators and mechanical equipment across water and wastewater facilities.
• Undertake planned and reactive maintenance to support reliable services.
• Inspect, service and overhaul pumps, valves, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
• Diagnose faults and respond to breakdowns to minimise service interruptions.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and upgrade of critical assets.
• Provide guidance and on-the-job training to an apprentice.
