Job description

These roles require an Australian citizenship with an active Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance. These opportunities do not have the ability to obtain sponsorship for a security clearance.

Our federal government client requires an EL1 equivalent Contracts Manager to provide specialist procurement and contract management expertise in support of high-value, multi-phase protective security uplift projects.

These are 12-month contracts with 2 x 6-month extension options.

This role is based in Canberra (ACT).

Estimated start: March-April 2026

Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist in high value, complex procurement and contract activities that strengthen the department's Protective Security
  • Engage, negotiate and persuade internal and external stakeholders, respond to complex to very complex enquiries relating to a Procurement Policy Framework and take the initiative to identify alternative courses of action to ensure resolution
  • Use experience to deliver procurement related documentation including tender documentation, schedule, correspondence, reports, submissions, plans and strategies, risk and performance reviews, contract change proposals and other contract management documentation
  • Translate and apply legal principles, legislative and policy compliance obligations, and commercial risk and performance requirements related to the Commonwealth Procurement Framework
  • Apply legal principles, legislative and policy compliance obligations and critical commercial risk and performance requirements related to procurement and contract management
  • Assist in financial management, including purchase order processing, forecasting and tracking of project expenditure
  • Accountable for accurate completion of work within agreed timeframes and quality requirements, share own expertise with others and guide and mentor less experienced employees
  • Take the initiative to identify impacts of changes to relevant Commonwealth procurement policies and recommend potential improvements to procurement practices
  • Monitor and manage contract administration, performance and risks against the contract and contribute to appropriate action
