Job summary

St Columba's School in Elwood and St Kilda West invites applications for a 2027 Classroom Teacher – Parental Leave Replacement. This is a full-time fixed-term position commencing in Term 1, 27 January 2027, through the end of the 2027 school year.

The successful candidate will contribute to a vibrant Catholic primary school community and IB PYP program. We seek a motivated educator with a love of learning, strong collaborative skills, and a commitment to student wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Needs a passion for learning and teaching.
• Knowledge of contemporary pedagogies and inclusive practice.
• Commitment to collaborative planning and teamwork.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Proven ability to communicate with parents and foster home–school partnerships.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, parish and community.
• Must hold Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
• Completed a Bachelor of Education or equivalent.
• Understanding of Catholic identity and school culture; accreditation to teach RE preferred.
• IB PYP experience is desirable but not required.
• Solid understanding of Child Safe Standards and a commitment to student safety.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom teaching in 2027 as a fixed-term parental leave role.
• Support student wellbeing and learning within an IB PYP World School context.
• Collaborate with colleagues and parents to plan and assess student progress.
• Contribute to a Catholic school community with a focus on inclusion and respect.
