Job summary

Geelong Careers is seeking a senior advisor to lead the development of strategic advice, policy documents and submissions. You will work with senior leaders and stakeholders to identify priorities, facilitate consultations, and produce briefing materials that inform decision-making.

You will also guide a small team and drive continuous improvement across advisory processes. The role requires strong written communication, project management, and the ability to manage complex, sensitive issues

Qualifications

  • Work closely with senior leaders, advisory members and stakeholder groups to identify priorities and inform decision-making.
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings and consultation activities to gather feedback and insights.
  • Undertake research and analysis to support evidence-based recommendations.
  • Prepare executive-level papers, submissions and correspondence.
  • Coordinate and support the development of annual work plans and strategic priorities.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and guide advisory members to effectively contribute to discussions and outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, engagement approaches and ways of working.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and supervision to a small team.

  • Extensive experience developing high-quality advisory, policy or strategic documents.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and sensitive issues.

Highly Regarded Experience
  • Experience preparing advice, submissions or briefing materials for senior executives or government stakeholders.
  • Qualifications and/or experience in public policy, social policy, health, community services, research or related disciplines.
  • Experience analysing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Strong understanding of governance, consultation and advisory processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and enhancing team performance.
