Job summary

Hydro Tasmania is seeking a Hydrographer to collect, analyse and maintain hydrometric data supporting operational decisions, flood forecasting, regulatory compliance and asset management.

The role blends field-based hydrography with technical troubleshooting and data processing, under the Remote Monitoring Supervisor. It emphasizes safety, attention to detail and leadership of junior team members, across Tasmanian sites.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Hydrography (or equivalent) and a Coxswain qualification or willingness to obtain.
• Hydrographic field experience, including installation and maintenance of monitoring equipment.
• Strong fault-finding, testing, diagnostics and technical reporting capabilities.
• Ability to mentor team members, manage workflows and contribute to asset management and reliability outcomes.
• Ability to swim and perform a range of physical tasks in changing outdoor conditions, including working in and around water environments and at times in remote areas.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality hydrometric data through monitoring, analysis and fault identification.
• Install, operate, test and commission remote monitoring equipment across Hydro Tasmania sites.
• Effectively manage personal workload, priorities and field commitments to deliver quality outcomes, meet deadlines and respond to changing operational needs.
• Mentor junior team members and drive continuous improvement in hydrographic standards and monitoring performance.
