Job summary

Netflix Animation Studios in Sydney is seeking a Character Modeling Artist to create production-ready character models for upcoming features. You will interpret 2D designs into 3D space, optimise topology and UVs, and ensure clean edge flow for downstream departments.

A hybrid role with in-office presence is required. Applicants should have 3+ years in a VFX or animated feature pipeline, and proficiency in Maya, ZBrush and Marvelous Designer, with a strong eye for character appeal and

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience modelling within a VFX or Animated Feature pipeline
• Proficiency with Maya and ZBrush
• Experience with Marvelous Designer
• Strong understanding of character appeal, silhouette, proportion, and shape language
• Solid understanding of edge flow and polygon density
• Solid understanding of topology for static and deforming objects
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret design down to fundamentals
• Strong organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

• Interpret 2D designs and translate them into 3D space while maintaining artistic intent
• Produce complex or stylised character models to production-ready topology and UVs
• Create accurate UVs for downstream departments
• Deliver highly optimised meshes with clean topology for Rigging, Layout and Lighting
• Ensure work is produced to standard within schedule
• Maintain good communication with the Leadership team
