Job summary

Orro is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Melbourne to own and mature the platforms that power our internal IT and deliver secure, reliable services across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Azure.

You will lead design through handover, mentor engineers, and drive automation and security uplift in a cloud-first environment. This role requires strong communication with stakeholders and on-call rotation, with occasional travel within Australia.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in systems engineering, cloud engineering, modern workplace, infrastructure or identity, with strong hands on depth across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Azure.
• Practical identity and access management experience covering Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, privileged access and least privilege, along with hybrid identity across Active Directory and Entra Connect.
• Strong endpoint management across Intune, Windows 10/11, Autopilot, compliance policies, application deployment and security baselines.
• Azure administration across virtual machines, storage, backup, monitoring, Log Analytics and RBAC, backed by scripting and automation with PowerShell, Microsoft Graph or Azure CLI.
• Proven end to end ownership of production platforms, from design and implementation through to documentation and handover, with the communication skills to explain technical risk and trade offs to technical and non technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Own and mature core Internal IT platforms across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Azure.
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex identity, endpoint, cloud, access and platform issues, including root cause analysis and post change validation.
• Lead technical improvements, lifecycle initiatives and security uplift from design through to implementation and handover.
• Strengthen identity, access and endpoint practices including Conditional Access, MFA, privileged access, device compliance, configuration baselines and least privilege controls.
• Administer and mature Azure and hybrid services covering virtual machines, storage, backup, monitoring, RBAC, patching, resource governance and recovery readiness.
• Use scripting and automation to reduce manual effort, standardise operational workflows, improve reporting and lift reliability.
• Mentor Systems Engineers and Systems Administrators, and keep standards, runbooks, configuration records and audit evidence genuinely useful
