Job summary

The Kids' Cancer Project in Alexandria, Sydney, is seeking an Assistant Accountant to own day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll in a hybrid work environment.

Reporting to the CFO, you will support month-end, BAS preparation and audits, while collaborating with fundraising, partnerships and senior leadership. This role offers exposure to process improvement and potential to broaden responsibilities over time.

Qualifications

• Accounting qualification in progress, recently completed, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with accounting software such as Business Central, Dynamics 365, Xero, QuickBooks or similar.
• Exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high transaction volumes.
• Confident communication skills and willingness to ask questions.
• A curious mindset and genuine interest in process improvement and new technologies.
• Strong written skills with the ability to create process and procedure documentation.
• Intermediate Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• End to end accounts payable processing and supplier payments.
• Accounts receivable management, invoicing and debtor follow up.
• Fortnightly payroll processing for approximately 23 employees using Employment Hero.
• Daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
• General ledger reconciliations and journal processing.
• BAS preparation for CFO review.
• Support month end close activities and financial reporting.
• Assist with annual audit requirements.
• Work alongside the Systems Accountant to improve processes and maximise the benefits of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Prepare and maintain finance procedures and process documentation.
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement, efficiencies and technology adoption.
