Amazon LEO seeks a Hardware Engineer to drive PCBA development from concept to production for phased array antennas. You will design and optimize high-speed digital and RF circuitry, lead schematic capture, layout, and vendor engagements, and support production transitions within a cross‑functional team in Redmond.

You will work with suppliers and internal teams to ensure performance, cost, and manufacturability while aligning with export controls and company standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with prototyping and implementation.
• 4+ years of industry experience in mixed signal PCBA design.
• 3+ years of experience with schematic tools (Xpedition/OrCad/Altium).
• 2+ years using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, multimeters).
• 1+ year of high-speed digital design (SERDES, PCIe, Ethernet).

As an Hardware Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most innovative, challenging, and exciting phased array antenna systems in industry right now. You will engage with an experienced team to conceive and design phased arrays aimed at delighting customers with affordable, reliable, high bandwidth connectivity. You will work closely with Amazon Leo’s various sub‑teams and engage third‑party suppliers to drive product definition, design, optimization, implementation, and test. The Hardware Engineer will have a complete understanding of how their design changes impact downstream partners such as operations, supply chain, product management, and reliability.

Own PCBA development from concept through production

Design and optimize different blocks of electronics sub‑systems

Design high‑speed digital and/or RF circuitry in collaboration with various teams

Lead and review schematic capture and PCB layout

Lead PCB vendor engagement for DFM review

Optimize PCB stack‑up for performance and cost

Generate test plans/procedures based off high level requirement definition

Complete board bring‑up and perform test campaigns for different modules and subsystems

Design of automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory test

Support the transition of the designs to production

About the team

The payload antenna team is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, validation, qualification, and new product introduction to manufacturing for all satellite phased arrays. These antenna systems will meet performance requirements defined by the RF/modem team as well as environmental and reliability requirements defined by the mechanical team. To this end, the antenna team collaborates closely with all the partner teams including silicon, power, mechanical, thermal, modem, RF/Coms system, and SW teams.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
• Experience with prototyping and implementation
• 4+ years of industry experience in mixed signal PCBA design
• 3+ years of experience in using schematic tool (Siemens Xpedition, Cadence OrCad, or Altium Designer)
• 2+ years of experience in using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters
• 1+ years of experience in high‑speed digital design (SERDES, Ethernet, PCIe, etc...)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
• 1+ years of experience with signal and/or power integrity

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
