Job summary

EPEC Group, based in Brisbane, is seeking two HV Substation Technicians to join our Projects Field Services team in South Brisbane. You will contribute to delivering HV grid connection projects alongside design, SCADA and construction groups.

Join a national HV engineering partner working on renewable energy projects. This permanent role offers diverse field work, travel across Queensland and nationally, and opportunities to grow with in-house capabilities.

Qualifications

Queensland Electrical Licence as an Electrical Fitter Mechanic.
Current C class driver's licence.
Construction White Card.
Willingness to travel extensively within Queensland and nationally.
Knowledge of primary plant and metering.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read circuit diagrams and data sheets.
Understanding of HV substation safety and commissioning.

Responsibilities

Assemble and integrate substation primary equipment with compliance and risk analysis.
Apply trade competencies for HV substations construction and maintenance.
Perform high and low voltage switching as required.
Review HV primary/secondary designs for substations.
Conduct on-site risk assessments and apply control measures.
Investigate outages and coordinate corrective actions.
Assist project managers to plan defect rectification and schedules.
Support field services with construction, testing and fault analysis.
Meet WHS, environmental and legal obligations per instructions.

Permanent role in South Brisbane maintaining and operating HV substations and electrical infrastructure with EPEC's Field Services team.

The Role

We are looking for two HV Substation Technicians to join our Projects Field Services team in South Brisbane.

You will be part of the field team delivering EPEC's HV grid connection projects, working closely with our design, SCADA and construction groups.

Responsibilities

Assemble and integrate substation primary equipment, delivering technical compliance and risk analysis components efficiently and within scope
Apply the trade competencies suited to the work location when constructing and maintaining equipment in HV substations
Perform high and low voltage switching as required
Review primary and secondary electrical designs for HV substation projects
Complete on-site risk assessments and put control measures in place in line with your skill and training
Investigate plant outages, coordinate corrective actions and contribute to continuous improvement plans
Assist project managers and field services supervisors to plan and organise defect rectification so schedules and client requirements are met
Support the Field Services team with construction, testing and fault determination and analysis
Meet all WHS, environmental and legal obligations in line with EPEC standard work instructions

About You

Queensland Electrical Licence as an Electrical Fitter Mechanic
Current C class driver's licence
Construction White Card
Willingness to travel extensively within Queensland and nationally, work outside normal business hours, join a standby roster and work reasonable overtime when required
Knowledge of primary plant, metering and control systems, plus the testing techniques used in the electricity supply industry
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
The ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics, manuals, service instructions and data sheets
An understanding of the safety requirements for HV substations and plant commissioning
A cooperative approach to planning and controlling work and a willingness to learn new things and be challenged

Desirable

Nationally accredited HV Switching Certificate
High Risk Work Licence for a boom-type elevating work platform (over 11 m)
High Risk Work Licence for a forklift truck
