SSP Australia is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to collaborate with leaders across the business, delivering people strategies aligned with performance and compliance.

You will provide expert employee relations support, drive workforce planning and change initiatives, and help cultivate a safe, inclusive workplace culture.

This role requires tertiary HR qualifications, sound knowledge of Australian employment law, and strong stakeholder management to enable organisational success.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Employment Relations or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations frameworks.
  • Experience managing complex employee relations matters and investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with operational leaders to align people initiatives with business objectives.
  • Coach and support managers on leadership, workforce management and people-related decision making.
  • Analyse workforce trends and metrics to identify risks, opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of People strategies, programs and policies.

Job description

The HR Business Partner collaborates with operational and functional leaders to deliver people strategies that support business performance, workforce capability, employee engagement and legislative compliance.

The role provides expert employee relations and workforce advice, supports organisational change and workforce planning initiatives, drives leadership capability, and partners with stakeholders to create a high-performing, safe and inclusive workplace culture across SSP Australia.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Partnering
  • Partner with operational leaders to align people initiatives with business objectives.
  • Coach and support managers on leadership, workforce management and people-related decision making.
  • Analyse workforce trends and people metrics to identify risks, opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of People strategies, programs and policies.

Employee Relations & Compliance
  • Provide expert advice on employment legislation, Modern Awards, enterprise agreements and company policies.
  • Manage complex employee relations matters, including misconduct, grievances, workplace investigations and disciplinary processes.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers regarding performance management, employee development and conduct matters.
  • Coordinate and manage Fair Work Commission matters and external employment-related claims.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate employment and industrial relations risks.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legislative requirements and employment obligations.
Workforce Planning & Talent
  • Support workforce planning and succession planning activities.
  • Partner with leaders to identify critical talent requirements and future workforce needs.
  • Lead or support recruitment activities for key and difficult-to-fill positions.
  • Manage onboarding programs for Head Office and leadership roles to support successful integration into the business.
Change Management
  • Support organisational change, restructures and business transformation initiatives.
  • Provide guidance regarding consultation obligations and change management frameworks.
  • Assist leaders to effectively communicate and implement change initiatives.
  • Support the management of workers compensation and injury management matters.
  • Partner with operational leaders, insurers and the Safety Team to facilitate effective return-to-work outcomes.
  • Monitor and support rehabilitation programs and workplace adjustments.
  • Promote employee wellbeing initiatives and a psychologically safe workplace culture.
Culture & Employee Experience
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and action planning activities.
  • Partner with leaders to foster an inclusive, respectful and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen retention, employee experience and organisational capability.
Reporting & Administration
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards and workforce analytics to support business decision-making.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of HR systems, processes and procedures
Person Specification:
Education/Qualification
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Employment Relations or a related discipline.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of performance management, investigations and employee relations practices.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with leaders across all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • High level of discretion and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to influence outcomes through coaching, collaboration and sound commercial judgment.
Personal & Job Attributes / Capabilities

  • Demonstrated experience in a Human Resources Business Partner, Senior HR Advisor or equivalent HR Generalist role.
  • Experience managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience interpreting and applying Australian employment legislation and Modern Awards.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
