Job summary

Stellar Recruitment in Brisbane is seeking an experienced People Business Partner to join a mining organisation. This hands-on role supports leaders through complex employee relations matters, policy interpretation and change in an operational mining environment.

You’ll partner with corporate and site leaders, providing practical HR advice, travelling to sites as needed, and influencing workforce policies and people frameworks.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a People Business Partner, HR Business Partner, Senior HR Advisor or similar.
• Strong Employee Relations background with confidence managing complex cases.
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures and contemporary employment practices.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leaders to provide practical, commercially focused HR advice.
• Manage complex Employee Relations matters, including performance, conduct, grievances, investigations and disciplinary processes.
• Coach and support leaders through sensitive and challenging people matters.
• Interpret, review and develop HR policies, standards, and procedures for practical use.
• Support changes, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Drive consistent performance management and development processes.
• Regular travel to site to engage with operational leaders and improve HR processes.

The Opportunity:

An established mining organisation is looking for an experienced People Business Partner to join its Brisbane-based team. This is a hands-on partnering role for someone with a strong Employee Relations background who is confident supporting leaders through complex people matters, policy interpretation and change across an operational mining environment.

You’ll work closely with corporate and site-based stakeholders, providing practical HR advice while helping the business navigate workforce changes, employee relations matters and the continued development of its people frameworks. What You’ll Be Doing

• Partner with leaders across corporate and mining operations to provide practical, commercially focused HR advice
• Manage complex Employee Relations matters, including performance, conduct, grievances, investigations and disciplinary processes
• Coach and support leaders through sensitive and challenging people matters
• Interpret, review and develop HR policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring they remain practical, compliant and fit for purpose
• Support the business through site, workforce, and organisational changes, ensuring people impacts are effectively managed
• Provide guidance around change processes, consultation requirements, and employee communication
• Support workforce planning, retention, and employee engagement initiatives
• Drive consistent performance management and development processes
• Regular travel to site, giving you the opportunity to work closely with operational leaders and build strong relationships across the wider mining team. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and the overall employee experience
• Analyse HR trends and metrics to support informed workforce decisions
• Contribute to Industrial Relations, organisational development, remuneration and broader people initiatives

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated experience as a People Business Partner, HR Business Partner, Senior HR Advisor or similar
• A strong Employee Relations background with confidence managing complex cases
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures and contemporary employment practices
• Experience supporting organisational, operational or workforce change
• Previous experience within mining, resources, construction, heavy industry, or another operational environment will be highly regarded
• Confidence partnering with senior leaders and challenging constructively when required
• Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to HR
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline
