Job summary

JRG Recruitment is seeking an HSEQ Advisor for remedial building and defence refurbishments in the Greater Canberra region. The role blends office and site work, supporting multiple projects with mentoring for progression to a senior advisory role within 8–15 months.

Ideal candidates will have a trade background, a Certificate IV in WHS, White Card, and willingness to travel between project sites across ACT and interstate. Defence exposure is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Trade background or site-based experience preferred.
• Certificate IV in WHS is essential.
• White Card is required.
• Asbestos and Silica Awareness training is expected.
• National Police Clearance is required due to DoD projects.
• Experience reviewing SWMS/JHAs and conducting audits.
• Understanding of quality management systems.
• Defence refurbishment or remedial building exposure is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams with HSEQ documentation and systems.
• Support incident investigations and ICAM reports.
• Administer incident and hazard reporting and monitor corrective actions.
• Promote a positive safety and environmental culture across projects.
• Conduct regular HSEQ site inspections and safety observations.
• Coach site personnel on pre-starts and toolbox talks.
