Job summary

The Safe Step is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to own the development and continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental systems across our operations in South Australia. The role is hands-on and collaborates with frontline teams to translate regulations into practical safety outcomes.

You will lead risk assessments, audits, training, and safety committees while tracking KPIs and coordinating with auditors and regulators to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience building and sustaining HSE management systems.
• Ability to translate legislative requirements into practical safety outcomes.
• Strong analytical skills to drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct workplace risk assessments, safety audits and incident investigations with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Coordinate safety training, inductions, toolbox talks and employee education programs.
• Establish and facilitate a monthly safety committee with management and workshop representation.
• Monitor and report leading and lagging safety KPIs to identify trends and actions.
• Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies and customers on HSE matters.
• Maintain emergency response plans, coordinate drills and oversee chemical approvals.
