Job summary

Natures Cargo, a family‑owned wholesale foodservice distributor, is seeking an experienced Truck Driver with an HR licence to join our Ballarat team. This physically demanding role covers regional Victoria with early starts around 3:00 am, multi‑drop deliveries, and manual handling of goods up to 25 kg.

You will be responsible for vehicle checks, logbooks, accurate paperwork, and safe handling of frozen and refrigerated products, while upholding WHS standards and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver licence.
• Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
• Availability to work early starts, long days and variable finish times.
• Strong attention to detail and literacy, with ability to understand instructions and complete paperwork clearly.

Responsibilities

• Complete vehicle pre-start checks and report defects.
• Maintain vehicle logbooks and NHVR compliance.
• Complete multi-drop deliveries to customer sites.
• Manually load and unload goods up to 25 kg.
• Ensure delivery documentation is signed and filed.
• Process cash account transactions as required.
• Follow WHS and safe manual handling practices.
• Maintain cold-chain and food hygiene for frozen/refrigerated goods.

Natures Cargo is an award-winning, family-owned and operated wholesale foodservice distribution company and has been a leader in the foodservice industry for over 40 years. Established in 1986, the business has grown from its humble beginnings to become one of Victoria’s leading foodservice distributors. With three distribution centres located in Ballarat, Thomastown and Traralgon, Natures Cargo proudly services foodservice outlets across Metro and Regional Victoria.

Our extensive product range includes over 7,500 frozen, refrigerated and dry goods, sourced from more than 500 trusted suppliers. We provide a wide variety of food, beverages and essential products to restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, hotels, pubs, clubs, cafés and other food service establishments.

Due to the continued growth of our organisation, we are seeking an experienced Truck Driver with a valid HR licence to join our Ballarat team. This is a physically demanding, multi-drop delivery role involving hand loading and unloading, frequent manual handling, and moving goods at customer sites. The position involves deliveries across regional Victoria, with early starts generally commencing around 3:00 am each day.

Key Responsibilities:

Complete vehicle pre-start checks and promptly report any defects or issues to management

Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and comply with regulated driving hours and NHVR requirements

Complete multi-drop deliveries to customer sites in accordance with delivery documentation and instructions, ensuring goods are delivered efficiently and on time

Manually load and unload goods, including repetitive manual handling, navigating stairs and steps, frequent bending, and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 kg

Ensure delivery documentation is signed and all paperwork is completed in accordance with company policies and procedures

Process cash account transactions securely and in accordance with company procedures

Follow WHS requirements and safe manual handling practices at all times

Maintain cold-chain, food safety and hygiene requirements when handling and transporting frozen and refrigerated products, and promptly report any temperature or product‑integrity issues

Key Requirements:

Current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver licence

Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)

Availability to work early starts, long days and variable finish times, depending on delivery schedules and operational requirements

Strong attention to detail, communication and literacy skills, with the ability to understand instructions and complete paperwork clearly and accurately

Effective planning, prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Professional presentation, strong customer service skills and a commitment to maintaining workplace hygiene standards

Demonstrated reliability, honesty and integrity, with a willingness to learn and adapt

Previous foodservice industry experience

Experience transporting frozen and refrigerated products

Current Forklift Licence (LF)
