Job description

At SWI Fencing, our people work across projects, offices and locations throughout Australia. We operate in a fast-paced environment where sound HR advice, good judgement and getting the fundamentals right make a real difference.

We’re looking for a capable, commercially minded HR Coordinator who enjoys being close to the business, partnering with managers and taking ownership of the full employee lifecycle.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants genuine responsibility and variety. You’ll be the key HR contact for managers and employees nationally, with exposure to recruitment, employee relations, performance management, organisational change, remuneration and HR systems.

If you’re practical, confident and comfortable working independently, this role offers the opportunity to make your mark.

What you'll be responsible for
  • Employee relations: Provide practical advice on performance, conduct, attendance, grievances and workplace matters.

  • Recruitment: Manage recruitment from requisition and advertising through to interviews, reference checks and offers.

  • Performance and organisational change: Support performance management, disciplinary processes, restructures, redundancies and employee consultation.

  • HR systems: Administer Employment Hero, maintain accurate records and improve how managers use the system.

  • Remuneration and performance reviews: Coordinate annual salary reviews, the Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP) and performance review processes.

  • Contracts and compliance: Prepare employment contracts and variations, maintain policies and support compliance with Australian employment legislation and applicable awards.

  • The employee lifecycle: Coordinate onboarding, probation reviews, training records, employee changes and exits.

  • Reporting: Prepare workforce reports that help management understand headcount, recruitment, turnover and emerging people issues.

What we're looking for

You’re an HR professional who can balance people, process and commercial priorities. You know when to provide advice, when to challenge constructively and when a matter needs to be escalated.

You will bring:

  • 2+ years’ experience in an HR advisory or generalist role.

  • Confidence advising managers and handling sensitive employee matters.

  • Practical experience across recruitment and the employee lifecycle.

  • Exposure to performance management, disciplinary matters and organisational change.

  • A sound understanding of Australian employment legislation and workplace relations.

  • Experience with an HRIS; Employment Hero experience will be highly regarded.

  • Strong written communication, organisation and attention to detail.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

  • A relevant HR or business qualification, preferably.

Experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering or another operational environment will be an advantage.

Why join SWI?
  • Real ownership: Take responsibility for day-to-day HR delivery across a national business.

  • Variety that builds capability: Work across recruitment, employee relations, systems, remuneration and organisational change.

  • A direct line to decision-makers: Partner with leaders and managers who rely on practical, timely advice.

  • Room to improve things: Help strengthen HR processes, reporting and the employee experience as the business evolves.

  • A role where judgement matters: Bring solutions, improve consistency and help managers make better people decisions.

Important working arrangements

This is a full-time, office-based position at our Rhodes office. The successful candidate must be comfortable working from the office five days per week. Company-provided parking is not available, so you will need to make your own parking or public transport arrangements.

The role supports SWI’s Australian operations, and occasional travel to other offices or project locations may be required.

Ready to take ownership?

If you’re looking for an HR role where you can do more than administer processes, build strong working relationships and have a meaningful impact on how a business operates, we’d like to hear from you.
