Job summary

ALS is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the TheFood & Pharmaceutical laboratory in Rydalmere (NSW). The role is permanent and full-time, with hours 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, to prepare samples and ensure timely, accurate results.

Ideal candidates hold a chemistry-related science qualification, have at least 1 year in a commercial lab, and demonstrate safety, organisational, and strong numerical skills, with a focus on quality and client service.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a laboratory certificate or qualification in science, preferably chemistry.
  • 1 year experience in a commercial, client-focused chemistry laboratory
  • An understanding of safety precautions necessary while working with samples of unknown hazard

Responsibilities

  • Processing and analysing samples within holding times, maintaining a high-quality standard.
  • Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies.
  • Raising anomalies in results, sample type, sample matrix interference section Team Leader or Supervisor for investigation.
  • Performing housekeeping duties as required.
  • Calibrating equipment as required by the Section Team Leader and/or the QC Coordinator.
  • Performing calculations as required when conducting analytical preparations.
  • Controlling consumable stock required for the tasks performed.
  • Completing proficiency activities as required at applicable sites.
  • Other duties, as requested, relating to this position.

About the Role
TheFood & Pharmaceutical laboratory in Rydalmere (NSW) is seeking a Laboratory Technicianto become part of the chemistry team on a permanent basis.

This hands-on role involves preparing samples for analytical testing, ensuring accurate results within holding times, assessing results against expected values for food matrices, and maintaining efficient and safe lab operations to meet client turnaround goals.

Ideal candidates will have a chemistry science qualification or lab certificate, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and client service. Experience in a high-throughput lab environment is desired.

This is a full-time position - Monday to Friday 09:00am – 5:00pm

The day-to-day:
