Inner West Sydney Community Housing

Are you passionate about supporting individuals and families to secure safe, stable housing? We’re recruiting a Housing Officer for a 6-month contract to deliver tenancy and property management services to people on low to moderate incomes, including those with complex needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in community housing, social housing, or property / tenancy management who thrives in a role with purpose, connection, and community impact.

About the Role: As a Housing Officer, you’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of tenancies, supporting tenants to sustain their housing, ensuring compliance with legislation, and maintaining positive relationships with tenants, stakeholders, and community partners. Your day-to-day work will make a meaningful difference in preventing homelessness and strengthening communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lease vacant properties, conduct sign-ups, and ensure all tenancy documentation is completed accurately.
  • Support tenants to understand their rights and responsibilities.
  • Manage rent collection, arrears, tenancy breaches, and sustainable tenancy outcomes.
  • Conduct routine, periodic, and final property inspections.
  • Attend Tribunal / Court hearings when required.

About You: We’re looking for someone with:
  • Comfortable with an on-site role 5 days per week.
  • Experience in community housing, social housing, or tenancy / property management.
  • Knowledge of the needs of social and affordable housing tenants.
  • Understanding of working with vulnerable clients and diverse communities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Good IT skills and confidence working with tenancy management systems.
  • A valid Driver’s Licence, plus Police Check and WWCC (or willingness to obtain).
  • Senior First Aid (or willingness to complete).
