Job summary

A Melbourne hostel is seeking a friendly, detail‑oriented housekeeper to maintain clean guest rooms, bathrooms and common areas. You will work in a fast-paced hostel environment, prioritising safety and guest comfort.

The role is casual and paid under the hospitality award, with flexible days and weekend coverage. You will be part of a supportive housekeeping team, liaising with guests and other departments to ensure a positive guest experience.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is preferred but not essential.
• A positive, reliable and hardworking attitude.
• Good attention to detail and pride in your work.
• Ability to work efficiently and manage multiple tasks.
• Flexible availability, able to work days, evenings, including weekends and public holidays.
• Have working rights in Australia.
• Ability to work 20 - 30 hours a week.

The hostel is known for accommodating both short- and long-term guests and being a great place to make lifelong friends with other travellers.

About the Role

The housekeeping team plays an important role in creating a clean, comfortable and welcoming environment for our guests. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of guest rooms, bathrooms and common areas to a high standard.

Working in the housekeeping role, you will work as part of a team in a fast-paced hostel environment, meet people from all walks of life and help create a positive experience for our guests. You will need to be organised, reliable and take pride in your work, while being able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

The role is hands-on and active, with a variety of daily tasks including cleaning rooms and bathrooms, making beds, maintaining common areas and responding to the changing needs of a busy hostel.

Position is causal and paid under the hospitality award

What you will do
