Job summary

Kempsey District Hospital, operated by Mid North Coast Local Health District, is hiring a Health and Security Assistant on a part‑time, permanent basis. You’ll support safety, security and patient care, respond to incidents, assist with transfers and patrol the premises to protect staff and patients.

We seek calm, reliable team players with a valid NSW Security Licence, First Aid cert and a valid driver licence, able to work a 7‑day roster including nights and weekends in a hospital setting,

Qualifications

• Current NSW Class 1A Security Licence (SLED).
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
• Current, valid driver licence.
• Ability to manage aggressive incidents, duress situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with patients, visitors and staff.
• Understanding of infection control, WHS and safe manual handling.
• Willingness to work a rotating 7-day roster, including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to work in a hospital environment, including the morgue.

Responsibilities

• Respond to alarms and security incidents and manage duress situations.
• Conduct internal and external patrols and report security risks.
• Support patient flow and assist with transfers and equipment movement.
• Maintain infection control and environmental cleaning standards.
• Support safety, security and patient care across the hospital.
