About the role

As a Hire Controller, you’re the friendly, knowledgeable face of Kennards Hire in the branch. You’ll work directly with local customers, helping them get the right equipment for the job without the pressure, chaos or isolation that comes with FIFO life.

This is a hands‑on, people‑focused role with variety in your day and a strong team around you.

  • Closed Sundays
  • Half‑day Saturdays only (rotating roster)
  • Work local, set hours – get your time back for life outside work
This role requires you to
  • Deliver outstanding customer service, every customer, every time
  • Assist customers in‑branch and over the phone
  • Create, update and finalise hire schedules
  • Coordinate hire contracts and handle branch administration
  • Recommend the right equipment and add‑ons to get the job done safely and efficiently
  • Support the branch team with loading/unloading, cleaning and basic servicing of equipment
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of our hire range
  • Process payments and complete hire cycles
  • Open and close the branch as required
  • Keep the branch, yard and storage areas clean and organised
About you

You might be from customer service, construction, trades, landscaping, transport, retail or hospitality – what matters most is your attitude and reliability.

  • A genuine interest in helping customers and working in a team
  • Previous experience in sales administration
  • Confidence dealing with people face‑to‑face and over the phone
  • The ability to juggle tasks and adapt when things change
  • Good time management and pride in doing the job properly
  • An interest in equipment, mechanics or construction (we’ll teach you the rest)
  • Availability to work rotating Saturdays (half‑day only)
