Job summary

Powertech in Darwin is seeking an experienced High Voltage Technician to support the local office on a full-time permanent basis. The role covers commissioning, testing and documentation for HV protections, plant, and power generation systems across client sites in the region.

You will join a collaborative team focused on safety, quality, and timely project delivery with travel as required. An unrestricted NT Electrical Fitter and Mechanic license and a valid driver’s license are essential.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted NT Electrical Fitter & Mechanic license required.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in HV electrical work.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards.
• Proven ability to meet project quality, schedule and budget requirements.
• Promote safety, professionalism and effective stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning and testing HV protections systems.
• Commissioning and testing HV Plant and Power Generation Systems.
• Protection Relay Testing for HV systems.
• HV primary and secondary tests in substation environments.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced High Voltage Technician to join Powertech supporting our Darwin office on a Full-Time Permanent Basis.

This role is a mix of local, office and field-based work and involves national travel on a project-to-project basis. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate strong theoretical and practical knowledge.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Commissioning and testing HV protections systems.
• Commissioning and testing HV Plant.
• Commissioning and Testing Power Generation Systems.
• Protection Relay Testing.
• HV Primary and secondary system testing in a substation environment.
• Assist in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.
• Carry out JSHAs etc. prior to commencing any new works to identify hazards and implement the necessary controls.
• Knowledge of HV/LV Transformer Testing (i.e. Tan Delta/Turns Ratio/SFRA/Dirana/Voltage Ratio/Winding Resistance, Oil Sampling)

Experience, Skills And Qualifications

• Unrestricted NT Electrical Fitter and Mechanic Workers License.
• Minimum 4years’ experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Knowledge of appropriate Australian Standards.
• Proven ability meeting project quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
