Job summary

EOS is seeking an Optical Engineer to own the path from the laser output to the target, including beam expansion, relay optics, fast steering and beam director telescope. You will be responsible for as-built performance, move between the optical bench and the range, and contribute to field demonstrations.

Qualifications include a degree in optical engineering or physics and at least 3 years designing optical systems, with hands-on experience in Zemax OpticStudio, Code V or FRED and

Qualifications

• Degree in optical engineering, physics or closely related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years designing and integrating optical systems in industry or research.
• Proficiency with Zemax OpticStudio, Code V or FRED, including tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design beam director and beam path optical trains including telescopes and relay optics.
• Model optical performance with tolerance analyses, stray light and thermal effects.
• Specify optics, substrates and coatings for high power operation including damage thresholds.
• Develop alignment strategies and procedures for build, integration and field maintenance.
• Characterise as-built optical performance including wavefront error and boresight stability.
• Support beam stabilisation and adaptive optics development with control software teams.
• Collaborate with mechanical design on opto-mechanical mounting and interfaces.
• Produce optical design documentation and test reports within EOS framework.
