Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD's RoadTek division in Mackay is seeking a Mechanical Tradesperson to join our workshop team. Based at the Mackay depot, you will maintain a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, earthmoving plant and auxiliary equipment in both workshop and field environments.

In this permanent full-time role you will perform repairs, servicing, preventative maintenance and fault diagnostics, attend breakdowns, undertake fabrication and welding, keep maintenance records and

Qualifications

• Completed mechanical trade qualification (e.g., Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade) or equivalent.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across heavy vehicle/plant equipment.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, servicing and preventive maintenance on fleet assets.
• Conduct fault diagnostics and attend breakdowns promptly.
• Undertake fabrication and welding tasks as required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure safety standards are met.
• Contribute to hazard identification and risk management in daily work.
