Job summary

Responsibilities

• Maintain, test, service and repair trucks and mechanical parts including brakes, steering, transmissions and suspensions.
• Detect, diagnose and repair faults in truck engines and parts.
• Repair and replace worn and defective parts referring to service manuals as needed.
• Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes and tune-ups.
• Service and repair braking systems.
• Diagnose and repair heavy diesel vehicle shafts.
• Test and adjust mechanical parts after repairs for proper performance.
• Complete NHVAS documentation accurately and on time.

Tasks includes

• Maintain, tests, service and repairs trucks and their mechanical parts including brakes, steering, transmissions and suspensions
• Detecting, diagnosing and repairing faults in truck engines and parts
• Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and referring to service manuals as needed
• Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles
• Service and repair braking systems
• Diagnose and repair heavy diesel vehicle shafts
• Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
• Diagnosing and testing parts
• Complete all required documentation relating to NHVAS procedures in a timely and accurate manner
• Other relevant tasks as required

Skills and experience

• Three years plus experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role.
• Ability to carry out mechanical tasks with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and to make independent decisions.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work within a team environment.
• Possess a driver’s licence. HR or HC desirable.
