Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to support multiple sites across Sydney and Illawarra. You will drive safety excellence through audits, training and investigations while reporting to the Head of Health & Safety Water.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification or working to complete formal qualifications in Health and Safety (minimum Diploma in WHS).
• Working knowledge of all relevant Health and Safety legislation including Chain of Responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and audits across multiple sites.
• Assist with third party audits and monitor compliance with legislation and company targets.
• Engage with operations to develop and maintain risk assessments.
• Conduct incident investigations and facilitate site risk reviews.
• Deliver Health and Safety training and communications.
• Manage risk management software for allocated sites.

As a Health and Safety Specialist, you will support personnel across multiple sites in the Sydney metropolitan area and Illawarra. You will be tasked with maintaining safety excellence and maximising company safety performance through audit, evaluation, engagement, training, investigation and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety Water, you will provide health and safety compliance advice to the operational management of our sites across our advanced water treatment Facilities in Sydney and Illawarra.

What you'll be responsible for

• Conduct inspections and audits in accordance with the internal audit schedule
• Assist with third party audits
• Monitor the compliance of operations against company objects and targets, along with client and legislative requirements
• Engage with the Operational team in developing, review and maintaining task based risk assessments
• Conduct incident investigations
• Facilitate periodic reviews of the site risk register
• Deliver defined Health and Safety related training and other Health and Safety communications
• Manage our risk management software for the allocated sites

What you'll need to be successful

• Formal qualification or working to complete formal qualifications in Health and Safety or extensive industry experience in a similar position (minimum Diploma in WHS)
• Working knowledge and understanding of all relevant Health and Safety legislation including Chain of Responsibility
• Valid Driver's Licence
• Good stakeholder management skills
