Position Information
Dungog High School, located in a small regional township north of Newcastle, NSW, serves students from local towns and communities within the Dungog Shire, with consistent enrolment around 600, including 17% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The school is part of the Dungog District Community of Schools, fostering genuine educational partnerships with primary partner schools. Dungog High has an active Junior AECG and SRC, ensuring student voice is integral to school decisions, supported by a committed P&C and partnerships with the Hunter Regional AECG, local sporting clubs, Dungog Shire Council, and various support agencies.
The curriculum is designed to challenge and meet individual needs, emphasising quality relationships and a supportive learning culture. It includes a variety of academic, cultural, sporting, and vocational courses, with a focus on enhancing STEAM learning and improving literacy and numeracy outcomes. Co-curricular opportunities, such as excursions and cultural activities, enrich the educational experience. Priorities also include student learning, engagement, and wellbeing. Additionally, the school is dedicated to improving whole school attendance and cultivating shared beliefs that all students can succeed, ensuring that every initiative aligns with community aspirations and the department's priorities.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
