An independent co-educational school in Brisbane is seeking a Head Swim Coach responsible for managing the swimming squad and ensuring athlete development. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years' experience in swimming coaching and appropriate qualifications. The Head Swim Coach position is responsible for the overall management and success of Clayfield Swimming Squad including, the performance of athletes through the Squad program, QGSSSA training, Britton Shield and Andrews Cup training.
The role is to be performed all year round, so as to design and execute coaching services and provide a complete developmental pathway for all athletes from stroke development and fitness to high performance.
The role includes the development of trained staff to provide a high-quality service that will increase membership across all swimming squad programs.
These responsibilities are not exhaustive, and other relevant responsibilities may be expected while performing your role due to the nature and purpose of the position.
Administer Squads, QGSSSA, Andrews Cup and Britton Shield programming, and development pathways when in season :
Design Squad training and development programmes for Club, State and National Meets.
Provide squad opportunities including Adult, Junior, Competition, Development Squad
Work closely with Clayfield Swimming Supervisor to ensure progression from LTS to squad level
Oversee all Clayfield College QGSSSA, Andrews Cup and Britton Shield Team selections including :
sequential skill development across the age groups.
Monitoring Squad and QGSSSA, Andrews Cup and Britton Shield attendance records.
Assign coaches to all squads including QGSSSA, Andrews Cup and Britton Shield programmes.
Attend all QGSSA, Andrews Cup and Britton Shield pre-meets, QGSSSA, Andrews Cup and Britton Shield Championship; events and all designated Swim Club meets.
Oversee the operation of the Inter-house swimming carnivals including setup, racing and results.
Prepare and submit annual budget requests for equipment and professional development to the Head of Sport.
Liaise with and assist the Head of Sport and Activities and Support Staff to manage the training loads and commitments of high-performance athletes.
Work with the Head of Sport and Activities to facilitate QGGSA, Andrew's Cup and Briton Shield programs.
Provide reviews, weekly updates / outcome and planning process as requested by Head of Sport and Activities and the Operations Manager.
In coordination with the WHS and Compliance Officer ensure an effective risk management strategy is undertaken before events are considered.
Plan, promote and facilitate school holiday swimming camps and intensive programs.
Mentor and guide the coaching team to ensure a high standard of teaching is displayed in accordance with the ethos of Clayfield College.
Work with Clayfield Swimming Supervisor to ensure a consistent delivery across all swimming programs
Lead by example and act in a professional manner at all times with interacting with swimmers, parents, club members, external swimming bodies and staff.
Build an inclusive and respectful team environment.
Develop a continuing coaching education program.
Build relationships with local schools to ensure off peak use of the facility.
Create and promote a vision and strategy of growth.
With support from the Head of Sport, recruit Squad coaches when required.
Attendance at all College or Club carnivals where Clayfield Swimming is represented (Club Meets, Major swim Meets, State, and Nationals, QGSSSA and AC Swim Meets, Inter-house swim meets and inter school swim meets).
Be able to build positive working relationships with the Clayfield College community and external stakeholders and navigate conflict resolution as required.
To work closely with Finance team in the process of invoicing for Squad and collecting fees.
To identify opportunities for enrolment potential and liaise with Head of Sport to further discussions.
To liaise with Engagement team to ensure a social media presence within the Clayfield College social pages.
Competency at this level involves the development and application of professional knowledge in specialised areas and utilising a broad range of skills :
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in coaching swimming in a school-based competition.
Appropriate qualifications in the field of Swim Coaching including maintaining currency of First Aid and CPR, certification, a minimum standard of a silver advanced license.
Facilitation Skills – developed administration, facilitation and communication skills with the potential to be proactive to achieve results.
Data Management – developed ability in using software including MS Office, Database and Web applications including ability to respond to information and communication issues in the School environment and manage appropriate analysis and intervention.
Possession of, or willingness to obtain, a Positive Notice ("Blue Card") for child-related employment.
Willingness to support the College's traditions and Christian ethos.
