About the role

The Head of Specialised Compliance leads strategic and operational oversight of financial crime risk, privacy governance and whistleblower protections at Cbus. Reporting to the Group Head of Enterprise Risk and Compliance, this position will be responsible for developing and maintaining frameworks, managing privacy impact assessments and data protection strategies and ensuring a robust whistleblower program aligned with legislative requirements. You will engage with regulators, lead investigations and provide training and subject matter expertise across the business.

This role is essential because it protects members interests, mitigates reputational and financial risk and fosters a culture of transparency and ethical conduct. By embedding strong controls and collaborating with senior leaders, you will ensure the organisation remains resilient against emerging threats while meeting legal and regulatory standards. Acting as a trusted advisor to the executive team and representing Cbus in regulatory and industry forums, this position underpins organisational trust, accountability and long-term stability.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead compliance frameworks for financial crime (AML/CTF, fraud, bribery, sanctions), privacy and whistleblower governance.
  • Act as AML Compliance Officer; overseeing monitoring, reporting and third-party risk management
  • Drive privacy compliance including impact assessments, breach response and data protection strategics
  • Manage whistleblower programme ensuring confidentiality, regulatory compliance and fair investigations
  • Provide leadership and collaboration, guiding a multi-disciplinary team and influencing risk culture across the organisation

What will you bring:

  • Extensive experience in leading financial crime, privacy and whistleblower governance in superannuation or financial services
  • Proven people leadership with a passion for developing cross‑functional teams and fostering engagement and growth
  • Strong regulatory knowledge including AML/CTF Act, Privacy Act and Corporations Act
  • Expertise in regulated environments with demonstrated stakeholder engagement and management of complex investigations
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic and communication skills with experience in managing regulatory relationships
