Job summary

Oxley State School in Brisbane is seeking a Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) to join the Leadership Team and drive inclusive education.

The successful candidate will provide guidance on reasonable adjustments, lead MTSS, coordinate data systems and collaborate with staff, families and external providers to support students with disability.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to leadership, teachers on reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
• Collaboratively develop MTSS across the school.
• Implement and coordinate school-wide data systems for students with disability and NCCD reporting.
• Coordinate intensive targeted teaching with evidence-based, data-informed approaches.
• Lead the Prep Transition Program to set new students up for success.
• Coordinate onsite NDIS providers.
• Lead the Student Support Team in case management and supports.
• Collaborate with stakeholders in holistic case management to support student needs.
• Partner with Leadership Team to refine inclusive education practices and pedagogy.
• Model, mentor and coach Inclusion and classroom staff to boost student outcomes.

Roles In Our School Context Will Include

• Provide high quality guidance and advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
• Collaboratively develop Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) across our school
• Implement and coordinate school-wide systems including data systems to monitor students with disability and record the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability
• Coordinate and provide intensive targeted teaching for students requiring intervention, with and evidence based and data informed lens
• Coordinate and lead our school Prep Transition Program, setting incoming students up for success
• Coordinating onsite NDIS providers
• Leading the school Student Support Team (GO, SLP, SW, Chaplain) in case management and subsequent supports for students
• Working with internal and external stakeholders in a holistic case management approach to supporting student need
• Work alongside members of the Leadership Team to refine, review and build authentic inclusive education practices, processes and pedagogies while walking alongside staff to develop knowledge, skills and understanding.
• Modelling, mentoring, coaching and working alongside Inclusion Teachers, Classroom Teachers and Teacher Aides to impact student success across academic achievement, belonging and engagement, attendance and behaviour.
