Purpose
The Head of Sales will operate with a high level of autonomy to drive revenue growth through hands‑on selling while also building a scalable, high‑performing sales function. As a player‑coach, the role balances direct customer engagement with team building, coaching, leadership, strategy, and system development to position the business for sustained growth.
It requires a commercially minded leader who leads by example – actively managing key relationships, securing long‑term contracts, and building trusted partnerships across the childcare sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Personally manage major accounts and high‑value opportunities while coaching and supporting the team to maintain strong pipelines and conversion.
- Develop and execute the sales strategy for new customer acquisition, retention, and expansion.
- Build scalable sales processes, CRM reporting, and activity rhythms that support consistent, measurable growth.
- Use data and digital tools (HubSpot, Excel, databases, analytics platforms) to track pipeline health, customer insights, and sales performance.
- Prepare and deliver high‑quality proposals, presentations, and pitch materials, with marketing support.
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer tastings to drive brand visibility and lead generation.
- Build deep, consultative relationships with childcare groups, and key stakeholders.
- Maintain strong market awareness – competitor pricing, customer trends, and emerging partnership opportunities.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Operations to ensure a seamless customer journey from lead to onboarding and retention.
- Share customer insights to inform marketing, product development, and menu planning.
- Lead pricing and contract discussions to ensure commercially sound outcomes.
- Travel as required to maintain relationships and drive regional growth.
Skills & Experience
- Proven history of achieving sustained growth through direct selling and partnering.
- Strong commercial acumen, including contract negotiation and P&L awareness.
- Confident using technology and data to inform decisions – skilled in building spreadsheets, working with databases, and leveraging CRM insights to manage pipeline and performance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging at executive and operational levels.
- Deep understanding of value‑based selling and consultative sales approaches.
- Background in nutrition, childcare, hospitality, or food distribution.
