Job summary

LOGISTICS EXECUTIVE GROUP is seeking a commercially astute General Manager - Operations to lead Sydney recycling and resource recovery site, driving safety, performance, productivity, cost control and continuous improvement.

You will manage production, warehousing, maintenance, logistics, asset management and ensure compliance with WHS and environmental standards while partnering with commercial teams to meet customer volumes.

Qualifications

• Significant senior operational leadership experience within recycling, waste management, resource recovery, manufacturing or similar industrial environments.
• Experience managing a complex high-volume facility with accountability for people, plant, productivity and financial performance.
• Strong knowledge of WHS, environmental compliance, risk management and governance in an industrial setting.
• Experience leading sizeable operational teams through frontline managers and supervisors.
• Commercially astute with strong financial understanding and experience managing operating budgets and capital expenditure.
• Experience implementing Lean, continuous improvement or operational excellence methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for Sydney operations, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient day-to-day performance.
• Develop and execute the operational plan aligned with business objectives, customer requirements and commercial targets.
• Lead site performance across production, processing, warehousing, logistics, maintenance and resource recovery activities.
• Establish and manage operational KPIs covering safety, throughput, productivity, recovery rates, quality, downtime, labour utilisation and cost.
• Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure WHS and environmental compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement to increase plant efficiency, throughput and asset utilisation.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve workflow and capacity.
• Lead preventative maintenance and asset management to maximise equipment availability.
• Manage budgets, labour requirements and site expenditure to meet financial targets.
• Collaborate with commercial and customer-facing teams to align capacity with forecast volumes.
