Job summary

La Salle College in Western Australia invites applications for Head of Learning Area - Careers & Pathways. The role leads curriculum, Vocational and Pastoral programs to support post-school transitions and student achievement across Years 7–12.

You will model the College’s values, mentor a team of specialist teachers and drive innovative teaching practices in a Catholic education setting. This ongoing position commences 2027 and requires TRBWA registration and a tertiary teaching qualification,

Qualifications

• A tertiary teaching qualification and TRBWA registration.
• Current Working with Children registration.
• Supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic education.
• Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School (in progress or completed).

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee Careers & Pathways department and team.
• Plan Curriculum, Vocational and Pastoral programs for post-school transitions.
• Embed contemporary teaching and learning across the department and College.
• Mentor and develop specialist teachers and build community relationships.
• Promote Catholic identity and values within learning programs.

Your day to day

This is an ongoing position, commencing 2027.

As the Head of Learning Area - Careers & Pathways, you embed exemplary teaching and learning across your learning area, aligned with the Vision for Learning and in respect of Catholic teachings to optimise the learning outcomes for all students.

Your day will look like:

being a leader and a role model of the College's values for your team, students and peers

planning and overseeing the College’s Curriculum, Vocational and Pastoral Care Programs to prepare students for their post-school transition

effectively managing the Careers & Pathways department and leading the team

understanding and embedding contemporary teaching and learning across the department and in the wider College community to provide opportunities for student achievement at all levels

supporting, mentoring and guiding your team to be exemplary specialist teachers

building strong relationships based on mutual respect with members of the community

actively supporting Catholic identity and the development of faith

being innovative and implementing positive change

Skills & experience

a tertiary teaching qualification and TRBWA registration

a current Working with Children registration

to be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic education

to be working toward or have completed Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School
