Queensland Government seeks a Head of Department - Humanities at Mitchelton State High School in Brisbane. You will provide strategic curriculum and instructional leadership to develop students' critical thinking and global awareness, aligning with Australian Curriculum and Queensland senior syllabus requirements.

You will lead planning, assessment and moderation to improve outcomes and build teacher capability.

Qualifications

• Lead the department in developing and implementing a shared educational vision focused on achieving high-quality learning outcomes.
• Promote ethical, inclusive and socially just practices with high expectations for student achievement and staff performance.
• Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning, continuous professional development and reflective practice to enhance leadership and teaching effectiveness.
• Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with students, parents, government agencies and community groups to support student learning, wellbeing and departmental goals.
• Apply strategic, future-focused leadership by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies, particularly those relating to students and staff, and effectively managing human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve departmental priorities.
