Job summary

Sharp & Carter Finance & Accounting Syd is seeking a Finance Business Partnering Manager in Sydney CBD for a national leadership role within an ASX-listed company. The role combines strategic and operational responsibilities, leading a team of 5–6 partners and shaping a high-performing finance partnering function.

You’ll coach and develop the team, collaborate with Production and Commercial leaders, and provide financial insight across projects.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification and strong leadership experience in finance.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop finance professionals.
• Background in construction, engineering, infrastructure or project-based environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Finance Business Partners nationwide.
• Partner with senior Production and Commercial leaders to provide financial insight.
• Oversee project financial performance, WIP, forecasting and cost reporting.
• Manage cash flow, debtors, client security and working capital.
• Escalate complex financial and commercial matters and drive process improvements.
• Ensure effective ERP usage and drive capability across the team.

Finance Business Partnering Manager

Up to $220k package | Sydney CBD | ASX-listed | National role | Hybrid

About the business

My client is a rapidly growing, ASX-listed business operating across the project delivery and construction sector.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking to appoint a key managerial roleto lead their national Business Partnering function and play a key role in supporting the next stage of the organisation's growth.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced finance leader who enjoys being close to the business, managing and developing people and having a genuine influence on commercial decision-making.

About the role

This is a strategic and operational leadership position, overseeing a team of 5-6 Finance Business Partners nationally.

A big part of the role will be about leading, coaching and developing the team, setting clear expectations, building capability and creating a consistent, high-performing finance partnering function.

You’ll also work closely with senior Production and Commercial leaders, providing financial insight and helping the business understand performance, risks and opportunities across its projects.

The role will cover:

• Leading, coaching and developing a team of three Finance Business Partners
• Partnering with senior Production and Commercial leaders nationally
• Overseeing project financial performance, WIP, forecasting and cost reporting
• Providing oversight of cash flow, claims, debtors, client security and working capital
• Acting as the senior escalation point for complex financial and commercial matters
• Driving consistency and continuous improvement across the finance partnering function
• Developing capability and ensuring effective use of the ERP system across the team
• Supporting broader finance, systems and process improvement initiatives

About you

First and foremost, you'll be a strong people leader with strong business partnering skillset.

You’ll enjoy developing others, building a high-performing team and creating an environment where Finance Business Partners can operate effectively and add genuine value to the wider business.

You’ll also ideally bring:

• CA or CPA qualification
• Proven experience leading, coaching and developing finance professionals
• Strong finance business partnering / commercial finance experience
• Background within construction, engineering, infrastructure or another project-based environment
• Strong understanding of project financials, WIP, forecasting, cost reporting, cash flow and working capital
• Strong commercial and stakeholder management skills
• High level of competency with ERP systems
• The ability to operate comfortably at both a strategic and operational level
